I recently had a burger from this place while traveling for work: Luanda-Nightlife! Restaurants, Bars & Night Life in Luanda!: Hamburg Miramar Snack Bar

It was sooooooooo good. It was so huge. I've never seen that much mayo on a burger. I thought it would be gross but it wasn't. It worked because of all the other stuff on it. All this shredded cabbage and carrots, the mayo, this sauce that looked like dark ketchup but was spiced, then the burger, a slice of friend ham, then a fried egg.

OMG.

I took a photo, still haven't downloaded it from my camera. I'm bringing it over to the Vortex to tell them they need to create this burger and call it The Luandan Coronary.

That looks absolutely horrible.

(But it looks better, and is probably no less healthy than the slop I had for lunch.)

You know, when my friend took me there I grimaced at it because it looks so gross but she told me they were legendary so I said, okay, will try.

It was so good. And so bad for me. It was a Friday after work and I was in Luanda for two weeks so we got those burgers and some beer and it was sooooooooooo gooooooooooooooood.

And so bad.

Abdullah's is across from Fire Station 31. Non of us ever ate there when I pulled shifts at that Fire House.
You never ate there or are you implying the food is bad? The reason I actually want to go is to meet Abdullah the Butcher. He allegedly holds court at a table there on a regular basis.

Thanks to all for the information.

Honestly I think Vortex is over-rated. Good, but not as good as people rave it to be. If you're already in Little 5 going to the record stores, I would rather go to Porter than Vortex. Huge beer selection and very good food, too. I recommend the Monte Cristo if they have it when you go.

Oh, the Porter Beer Bar is GREAT! I love those garlic fries! And, yes, very good beer selection.

But for burgers I don't think the Vortex is overrated. Perhaps you're over it. Certainly I've lived here long enough that I'm over it. But I still think they're good.

Yeah the vortex is pretty popular for the vibe you seem to have. Moreland Ave and little 5 points. Also the laughing skull is a nice comedy club. They have movie nights in Atlantic Station and Centinial Park if you have a shorty. Opera is nice... expensive and not my style, but nice. Skating and bowling is really big check it out one day... they have big events there from time to time. The drive thru-movie is also good for a picnic type joint with a woman or with ur boys. If you like country check out wild bills in the north side. MJQ concourse, or something like that, seems fun.

I just wanna add... Im from GT... that varsity is not that good my dude. If you want an Atlanta tradition... Waffle House after the club. Chicken wings are really popular here too. Oh thre are some really nice resaurants off peidmont park.
