I need some advise please. I'm thinking about moving my family to Georgia. We are looking at Union City/ Oakley Township which has some beautiful modern houses build by D.L. Horton. I am a single mother with two teenage children. I cannot afford to buy a house in Boston and found Georgia very affordable. How is the jobs in Georgia? I've worked in a hospital for over six years as an Enrollment Specialist. I need to find a job. I've also worked for over ten years as a Home Health Aid. I am also a Certified Nursing Assistant and has been registered with MA state board. Where can I look for jobs? Does anyone know of companies hiring in that area. I have great customer service skills and leadership qualities. Private Home Care I will also consider. Thanks! All advise appreciated

Unemployment in metro Atlanta is pretty high - over 10%. Please - do make sure you have a job here first before moving down here or buying a house.

You can try monster.com. Even though unemployment is high, I know of people around me who are slowly but surely getting hired.

Any particular reason why you chose Union City? If you have teenagers, are you concerned about schools? Because the middle and high school zoned for Oakley Township residents are not good. I know the (and schools) well. The schools would be Bear Creek Middle and Creekside High.

No school age kids. Actually that is the only place I visited because I have relatives living in Oakley Township. Can you make suggestion to other places I can look at in GA.

Well, I would advise you secure employment first. Then, once you can tell us where you job is, we can give you more insight as far as the best place to live. Because Lord knows you would not want to move to Oakley Township in Union City and be able to secure a job North somewhere. That commute would be a nightmare, and at the end of the day, commute does matter. The metro Atlanta area is pretty big.

Exclamation I am looking there also

hello all

I know that this thread is old...but I am also looking at that subdivision. I currently am living in the Smyrna/Vinings area and work in Kennesaw..but I am having a hard time finding newer construction here in the North. I am working with NACA and I want to make sure that I can get something that I can get the owner/builder to buy down so that my interest rate can be lower. I have been to see some DR Horton homes in the Camp Creek area and fell in love with them. I am looking for GOOD schools for my daughter and a good place to live for my teenager so that he can flourish even more. Any info that you can give me at this time will help so so so much.

Thanks!

Why would you possibly want to commute from Camp Creek to Kennesaw? If you can't find the new home inventory in Cobb and Cherokee Counties, you must have your eyes closed...

Use Google or a similar search engine to locate a real estate search site, and use that site to find properties in your price range.

Alternatively, find a local real estate agent and use them. That's what a buyer's agent is for.
