neemhakim is on a distinguished road
Default 30306,30307,30308

I am moving with my family to Atlanta. I'll be working at Emory. I've found some houses in the 30306,30307,30308 zip codes. I wanted to ask how are these areas in terms of living with a family of two kids, infant and preschooler.
thanks

30306 is very family friendly. The farther north are more family friendly areas. Morningside Elementary serves a lot of this area as well as Inman Middle School, both are about the best in the Atlanta Public Schools. Parts of the zip code should be in Dekalb County instead of the City of Atlanta so your school district is going to change. You are probably going to want to stay north of Ponce, the areas south in 30306 are much more congested.

30307 is basically all family friendly. You are probably going to want to stay away from areas south of Dekalb Avenue, there is nothing wrong with this area it is just still transitioning and is not as nice as the other areas. A large part of this zip code is also in Dekalb County so again your school district will change. The closer you get to Little Five Points (corner of Moreland and Euclid) the less family friendly the neighborhood is going to be. Little Five Points is a shopping district full of eclectic shops, restaurants and people.

30308 is probably least family friendly area. If you are north of Ponce The area is split into two areas. West of Juniper is mostly mid to high rise office and condo buildings (with lots of parking lots mixed in). East of Juniper is lots of houses, mostly turned into apartments. The area is inhabited by young singles and some couples but few families. Lots of gay men in this area. South of Ponce is basically a mixture of gated condo, townhome or single family communities (which for the most part of safe but only because they are like fortresses), projects and other low income housing and homeless shelters. The area is getting a lot better but it still has a long way to go.
