Whitesburg, Georgia
One of my colleagues and her husband are looking at a house in Whitesburg, GA. They asked me if I knew anything about the area (I guess they think I know everything since I'm from here), but I have never even heard of this place. My dad says it's somewhere out west near Douglasville, but does anyone know where Whitesburg is and what kind of place it is? Does it exist?

It's about halfway between Carrollton and Newnan in Carroll County. I don't know anything about it but I'm guessing its pretty rural. Are they planning on commuting into Atlanta from there? That would be a long drive.

Her husband is looking into a position at the State University of West Georgia and she has a teaching job in Cobb. I don't know why they won't secure jobs before looking for homes, but, wanting to be away from traffic congestion and "basic suburban life" were a couple of things she mentioned. I kind of figured it was far out, so, hopefully her husband will get the position at West Georgia he's going for.
Now, her school is in south Cobb, by the way, not north Cobb.

South Cobb drive wouldn't be too bad but still average a solid 30+ minutes...I'd hardly call Whitesburg suburban though. I agree with "rural" on that one.

Whitesburg is very rural. It's a nice little town, not much there, and it's not big by any means. It is a good ways out to South Cobb too. But would be good area for West Georgia job. It's about 15 minutes to Douglasville, Newnan, and Carrollton. If you like rural, it's a good place.

Whitesburg is just beyond the Chattahoochee Hill Country of southwest Fulton, northwest Coweta, south Douglas, and southeast Carroll.
If the South Fulton Parkway is ever extended to Whitesburg (it may already be planned), I think the area will boom.
It is relatively close to Hartsfield (if the parkway is extended) and jobs in Carrollton, Villa Rica, Douglasville, Lithia Springs, Newnan, Palmetto, Fairburn, and Union City.

Info on Whitesburg
I agree with some of the previous posts,Whitesburg is a tiny little area between Newnan Carrollton and Douglasville. But they have some beautiful homes and it really isnt far to any of the surrounding shopping or working areas. And South Cobb isnt bad either. I actually live just over the Coweta line but I go into Whitesburg all the time to get things intsead of going into Newnan. I love Whitesburg, The people are sweet and it's just a quaint little country town.
