Default Alpharetta: how to get a continuance?

Hi pals,

Got a traffic citation. Court date set to mid-June and I have an international trip planned from June 1 to end of June - tickets purchased and visas obtained. Got to request a continuance - change of court date.

The city of Alpharetta web site says: "You must appear for your scheduled court appearance to request a continuance."

Does that mean I have to appear on my scheduled date mid-June to request a continuance? This does not make sense to me: because I could not make it to original court date so I request a continuance to change a date. Now I have to appear on the original court date in order to change court date? I did not get it or am I reading it wrong? (info from city web site below).

Appreciate if anyone can help.

If you requested changes of court dates for traffic citation or something similar before at this court, how did you do it?

Thank you.

Laji

Go to the court and speak with either the clerk, judge's office or even the cashier down the lobby that takes payments - just ask anybody there and they will point you to the right kiosk. Lucky for me, haven't run in with alphpd yet to know which booth to go to exactly. But thats the procedure for all. Takes 10 seconds to do. Make sure they give you change of date receipt.

You don't need to have a reason for asking the 1st continuance. Only subsequent ones.

Thank you. I called in and they said they can change the date but with no receipts and no recordings either...
