Default Good sushi place near Clairmont & Briarcliff?

A friend of mine will be in town for business and staying at the Marriott Century Center. We were thinking doing a night out and starting with sushi and a few drinks.

Any suggestions for a good place in the area? Quality and ambience over price, but nothing super expensive or too trendy.

This is certainly a job for George Chong.

There is a tiny restaurant on Clairmont--going toward the Chamblee library, after you pass the shopping center--it's on the right.

'Mint'--very soft ambience and they have received awards for their food.

If you want to stay close to Century Center--Violette's is just across the street---I like their food--French. Cozy litte spot. It has a patio.

A little off the beaten path, but well worth the trip is Shoya next to the Brandsmart in D'ville.

Neil - This is my neighborhood, and there really isn't a sushi place in the immediate area that I'm aware of. We usually head to Buckhead or Midtown (10-15 min).

Possibly the best in the city is not far at all, post-rush hour a nice 15 min. drive to Piedmont & Peachtree to MF Buckhead. If you guys feel like spending a little, this place is awesome. Japanese Restaurant Atlanta Georgia, Buckhead GA, sushi restaurant, Japanese food, sushi bar

I'll second TakeAhike's suggestion of Mint, a great little Thai place if you're looking for that. Violette is charming, and great if you're in the mood for French.

Thanks, waronxmas! I can't believe I forgot about Shoya (brain dead).

Neil, this is the real deal. Depending on where your friend is in from, they very possibly will be blown away by this place (as in, this is authentic Japanese Pub culture on display).

Great guys, thanks. He's married to an Asian woman, and lives in DC now, so I'm sure he's had the real deal, but new places and great food is always a welcome experience.

I second that recommendation. Here's another one but in Sandy Springs:

Bishoku - Sandy Springs, GA

This one is in Doraville which would be closer:

Tairyou - Doraville, GA
