Please share with me all the disappointing things about Georgia! I'm begging for the info, we have to make our decision to move (Buford, Flowery Branch, Sugar Hill areas) ASAP!
|
I was referring only to blatant misrepresentations of traffic pattern and volume, Tiffani. It isn't right and it relects poorly on the real estate business when relocation agents, of all people, try to get by with that!
(I'm not even remotely employed in real estate, building or development, by the way).
I love living in Georgia. I hope you will enjoy it, too.

I was looking into Alpharetta area. Is it a nice area? ...Does anyone knows a good hospital (I'm a OB nurse) where I could apply for a job?
|
Reading through again, I am surprised that no one has mentioned North Fulton Regional hospital to you.
I know there's a Women's Center/OB department there, although it isn't nearly as big as the one at Northside. The hospital has a Roswell address, but then so does Harry's Market and I've always considered that area south Alpharetta. Alpharetta is considered a nice place to live and work. Very clean, almost everything is new.

If you move to Alpharetta or any north Fulton city you can take a bus over to the rapid rail station and ride the train to work. They have a station (N 8) medical center station serving Northside, Scottish Rite and St. Joseph’s hospitals.

Alpharetta is a 'suburb', for the most part and it covers a pretty big area --the main attraction would be its proximity to the Chattahoochee River and outdoor activities. Definitely one of the best areas to be found in Atlanta--and it is expensive.
You should also check out employment opportunities in Milton County.
I'm not sure--is St. John's Creek in Alpharetta? Near there? Lots of growth in the area and plenty of jobs in the medical fields. The Emory Healthcare System has branches in most areas of the city.
If possible--plan a trip to the Atlanta area --at least a week and drive around--it is hard to describe the complexities of transportation here and that becomes a serious, serious issue.

Yes, bhs119, John's Creek is only about 5-6 miles from Alpharetta (many people have in the past considered that area of North Fulton to be Alpharetta) and now that you mention it, there is a brand new hospital going up there.
Emory Johns Creek Hospital opens February 2007!

LOL--I've lived here all my life and get very confused when I leave my 'area'.
Over the Thanksgiving Holidays I went exploring in the northern part of the metro area. Found the city of Alpharetta and then I don't know where I went. Passed by St. John's Creek and near dark found myself in Forsyth County --needed to be headed back to Atlanta. I cried a little bit when I found myself on Pleasant Hill near Gwinnett Mall. Just too many cars ... but you know.
It would be nice to live near St. John's Creek/Alpharetta I think --but not to commute back and forth each day to the south.

I'd have been sobbing uncontrollably.

Villa Rica is quickly growing
I am selling a house in Villa Rica, GA and relocating to California. Villa Rica is nice because it is safe and while a bit outside of Atlanta, it is a quick commute away and is a fast developing city. If you are interested in looking at housing, let me know I have a 3 br 2 bath with a nice big fenced yard and a drive under garage and basement. There are a few hospitals nearby, a wellstar in Douglasville and a Tanner in Villa Rica.

That area is strange, especially on McGinnis Ferry Road. Everything north of the road is Forsyth county, south of the road is Fulton county, and east of the river which intersections the road is Gwinnett County. To make matters worse, on the Fulton side Alpharetta and Johns Creek have an irregular border and no one really knows exactly what the border is, one second you are in one city the next you are in the other.
If you drive down Spalding Drive around the north Sandy Springs/Dunwoody Area..... you go back and forth between Fulton, Dekalb, and Gwinnett Counties like 10 times. It's ridiculous, one moment you see a Dekalb County sign, 500 feet later a Welcome to Sandy Springs Sign.... keep going and there is a part where there are alternating Welcome to Gwinnett and Welcome to Dekalb signs like every several hundred feet for several cycles...
