How about that fondue place with the live Alligators....Dantes Down the Hatch. Dante even comes around and barks at you sometimes. I read a lot of mixed reviews about it but we had a blast when we went there....can't wait to take my kids.

I also recomend R Thomas. It's like a neon greenhouse with a resturant inside. I've eaten there a few times. Pretty tasty!

Dante's is pretty expensive. I've only eaten there once (in 2005 I believe) and ended up spending around 70 bucks for two people.

It IS pretty quirky though. Fondue, live jazz, and... pirates?

Yes, this is what I was going to suggest as well on Ponce De Leon. I love the bag of goodies that comes standard with any meal. I really enjoyed it!

never been there, but twisted taco in midtown looks memorable right near all the skyscrapers, and non-pretentious.

A few thoughts that will fit in your civic center/Ikea plans.

Baraonda Atlanta - Italian Cafe near the Fox Theatre. Enjoy lunch on their patio.

Welcome to Park Tavern - Have lunch outside overlooking Piedmont Park, venture into the park after lunch
