We currently live in vinings/smyrna area, and will be moving out of the area mainly because of the poor school quality. I know here we are so close to great private schools, but we just don't want to go that route. From the research I have done, I think I like the Mt. Bethel, Dickerson, Walton school trio, which seems to be near the top for all three levels. My oldest will start Kindergarten next year, and we would like to really settle into a place where we can stay for many years, plant roots and make friends, which is why this is so important.

What I want:

Better school district - think I prefer Mt Bethel, Dickerson, Walton

Must be family friendly where people are sensitive to small children (ie not driving down the road in a hummer like a bat out of hell!)

I don't need to be best friends with my neighbors but I want a friendly atmosphere. I want to feel comfortable being outside in the yard planting flowers, playing with the kiddies, going for walks, trick or treating, all that stuff

I want a swim/tennis community so we don't have to join a club

I want between a third of an acre and an acre

Where people have pride in their homes and take care of their properties to maintain home values

Will spend up to $750,000

I have seen homes online that I like in several neighborhoods, but I want to hear from those of you who live there: Asheforde, East Hampton, Camden Place, Waterford, and others...

I would sincerely appreciate anyone who would take the time out of their day to write. I would like to be as informed as possible when making my decision.

Have you heard of Weddington? It's supposed to be really nice and I think it's right in your range. I'm fairly sure it's right around Lower Roswell/Sewell Mill. May be worth checking out.

House Hunting - where did you end up in East Cobb, and do you like it? We are looking in the area.

Thank you

You do realize that post was 3 yrs old. May want to contact them via private methods ...may have better luck. Having lived on the Fulton side of the Chattahoochee off of Johnsons Ferry for the majority of my life, I don't think I could handle the commute into Cobb. Check out Heards Ferry > Ridgeview > Riverwood as well.

I just realized this is old.. but might as well.

I second ATL Golfer's notion. We live right around Chastain. I'm a private schooler myself but know many who have received an amazing education at Riverwood. Hands down one of the best in the state.

For 750k you can get an older home inj Sandy Springs. I'd choose to live in a real city over a county jurisdiction. You'll get more for your taxes and also better people not as rednecky. I worked in East cobb for 4 years. For just a short drive away and a little more you get so much more for your money in SS.
