Being close to Piedmont Park is not a problem at all--Atlanta needs many more parks and this is a great start. Parks being "too close" in a city is not and should never be a probelm

A belt of linking or semi-linking parks will be lovely...

Not very far. You actually get to take a look at the quarry and the interior of the Westside park location if you take the Beltline bus tour. It will be fantastic once it's done, but they have a long way to go IMO. The quarry/future reservoir is absolutely beautiful.

That's an insane amount of earthwork and hardscape- both in scope and in dollars. I don't know that area well enough to say whether it'll be used to it's capacity, but I certainly hope it is, so it doesn't become a colossal waste of money. It looks like it's going to be beautiful when it's done.

I'm sure it will be. It will be located fairly close to Poncey and Virigian Highland, South Midtown and the O4W. When lived in that area, the lack of a good park close by was definitely noticeable. My self and most of neighbors usually made the trek to Piedmont park just to enjoy the outdoors. Now an appropriate place will be right in the area's "backyard".

Sounds to me like we was talking about Old 4th Ward park. Isn't westside park on the westside of town.
