Unfortunately we can't buy right away without Hubby working at the new job at least 30 days, so ........
Since we close here (Florida) around Jul 5, and Hubby starts new job Jul 12 (and leaves old job Jul 2), that leaves us renting for the shortest amount of time possible.
We see AMLI at Mill Creek rents for 3 months. So it looks like we will rent Jul 6 - Oct 6. This will actually give us more time to drive around and get a good feel for the area that works for us.

I will need movers AGAIN in October, so I will get a quote from, was it "Mark the Mover?"
I will also need a storage facility in the Buford (Mall of GA) area to store the boxes we will not be unpacking into the rental. Anyone??? Help!

That's it for now.
Can't believe it's happening!!!

Thank you guys!

It sounds like things worked out incredibly well and I hope you will enjoy your relocation to GA.

I'd contact the AMLI staff and ask for recs of storage facilities near them.

I found this one on Google but know nothing about it>>>
Buford Mall-Georgia Self Stg - Buford, GA, 30518 - Citysearch

good luck

Renting is actually a better option to do first before buying when moving here anyway, so the route you're taking is the best. The areas vary so much at times in terms of demographics, traffic, amenities, etc., you may find that once your lease it up you may want to try a different complex in a close but different neighborhood before committing to a buy.

Another option would be to take advantage of the great renters market and rent a house for six months or a year in a neighborhood you like. Then you can really get to know the area and also have room for all your stuff.

Congrats, AJ! We are all very happy for you and your family.

As usual, I agree with TAH's suggestion of contacting AMLI for info re: storage.

Welcome to Atlanta!

We stayed at AMLI Mill Creek for a month and the general community is great-pool, beautiful lake with walking trails, decent work-out facility. Our two bedroom apartment was okay but it was on the ground level overlooking the parking lot with considerable traffic and lights shining through the window.

You are in a great spot as far as chain restaurants, movie theaters, Target, North Point Mall. The traffic can make things miserable, though as you will figure out in a hurry best times and routes to take so that you don't just sit.

Turns out I think Hubby is flying out to ATL this weekend to house hunt with our realtor. She suggested leasing to own until Hubby's 30 days at the new job are completed and we can go into contract.
Now I'm going crazy looking for homes for us, in areas I'm hoping I like......Dacula (Mill Creek area) and Suwanee (around George Pierce Park....Avonlea Crossing, Morningview, etc.).
