Someone took the phrase "a man's home is his castle" a little too literally. At first I thought this was some poetry theatre or something but then I saw the sign on the gate that read "Private residence: No trespassing!" I just had to snap a picture of this thing. It's on Arnold Mill Rd in Alpharetta.

P.S. Yes it has a moat.

Talking Castle Home

There's a story to that place... True or not, I dunno; but it's been told around that area for years.

Guy was involved in the trucking industry. Asked a woman to marry him, and told her he would treat her like a queen. She told him to make their home a castle. He did his best...

The moat is actually a swimming pool. The smaller "castle" to the rear of the property is a play house he built for his grandchildren.

I think it would be a terrific place to open a pre-school once the owner sells. The entire property would benefit from some landscaping however.

Total kitsch. I've always wondered what the inside looks like, but I've never seen any kind of newspaper articles or anything that gave a description. Whoever lives there seems to like to keep to themself.

There is one in LaGrange that has this beat by a longshot... it is HUGE.. I mean literally the size of a real castle. I'm not sure who lives there but it has huge gates around it and you really cant get close enough to take good pics of it.

That place is around the corner from my aunt's house. Isn't it ghastly?

I drive by here almost every day and have never seen anyone outside. I would love to see the inside and know the story.

One day, there was an accident and someone had plowed into the grape vines (at least that's what I think they are) on the property right across the street. I wondered if it was caused by someone gawking or taking a picture.

I wouldn't be surprised to see a woman looking out of the window with 20 feet of hair hanging to the ground from this place. If the Renaissance Festival ever needs a new venue...
