Who (or what) is Collier Hills, Collier Heights, Collier Road, etc. named after?

The Collier family were the original landowners of the area that covers Ansley Park, Sherwood Forest, Brookwood Hills, Ardmore Park, and Collier Hills. I believe the original Collier family home is located in the Sherwood Forest neighborhood.

Just a thought...

I can see how Collier Road and the Collier Hills neighborhood is named for the family mentioned by LovinDecatur above--due to obvious proximity and former landholdings.

However, do y'all think "Collier" much farther west (Collier Drive and the Collier Heights neighborhood) is named for the same Collier Family?

There were several of them, they happened to hold land at the right place and time. In the South small farmer families often held land very near each other. "Atlanta" was frontier country back then, hence they surely did not accident on Andrews name.

Possibly...some of the Collier family members were into real estate development, so it's quite possible that they were responsible for the creation of that neighborhood as well.
