With all the bad MARTA related news lately, I did find something at least a little positive.

MARTA's first BRT line went in to service this week: The Q line on Memorial Drive
MARTA - Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority

I like the concept, but I think they could do a bit more as well as convert some existing bus lines to the same concept.

More than likely, with the economy and funding being the way it is for MARTA, the next few years are probably suck more so than now.

I emailed MARTA customer support about going back to 8 car trains on peak hour blue line. The agent responded that Q1 2014, frequency would be increasing, but keeping the 6 car train. Hopefully this means 10 minute headways SOON.

Attorney Robbie Ashe elected as new chairman of MARTA’s board | SaportaReport

New MARTA chair and the first official documentation (that I've seen personally) about increased rail and bus service in April. EXCITING TIMES!!

...Ashe said he believes MARTA riders will soon start feeling the benefit of that transformation. In April, MARTA plans to increase the frequency of its rail service and improve its bus service. Ashe said that the number one complaint he gets about the agency has been the amount of time between MARTA trains....

Maybe if they can get things right, ridership can start increasing over the next few years so that they have a reason to expand....it's sad when MARTA is one of the few transit services decreasing in ridership despite the metro growing so fast.

Best thing about that for me is that is 7 days a week. I imagine this should double the frequency south of Lindbergh through the weekend which will make the choice to ride much easier.
