I'm a single mom with an 8-year-old considering relocation to the Decatur or Marietta areas. Can anyone ballpark commute times for me? I'm likely only looking at driving times, as I'm a paralegal and will often need my car to get to a client's office. However, if MARTA will get me there really fast, please let me know. Thanks very much.

from either Decatur or Marietta to most downtown locations--allowing for bizarre traffic complications. On rare days it might be a 20 or 30 minute commute.

There is a Marta train station in the city of Decatur--I would think that parking lot would stay full from early AM--something to consider. Or you might be living 'near Decatur'--there are several other park and ride lots. The trip will never be 'really fast'---jmo. Those who work downtown might be able to share more FYI about using Marta to go from one part of downtown to another.

Marietta is in Cobb County and they have their own transportation system--it would probably always be easier to drive from Marietta than get involved with that.????

In Marietta, there is the express system that will take you downtown. It's about as fast as Marta is because of all the stops (most of the time) and costs $3 one way so more expensive but overall friendly if you ask me. In Marietta, you'd be looking into route 101.

Just to clarify, there is not an official Marta parking lot for the Decatur station. There are commercial lots near the station, but you have to pay to park there.

You could ride Marta from Avondale or East Lake, buoth very close to Decatur) and park for free.

I am extremely thankful that I no longer have to navigate through MARTA stations to park/ride--particularly in the Decatur area.

I know they recently renovated --(took several years???)--the Decatur station and/or area surrounding it---AJC articles indicated that was quiet a process.

The parking-before-riding must be included in the commute--time consuming, jmo.
