Default question about the population of Atlanta area

I am mulling over atlanta as well as some other places....my question is.....what percentage of the population would you consider to be the big-city hustler/phony/money/ social-status obsessed types and what percentage are the good old-fashioned american citizens just out to make a decent living and make an honest contribution type? the answers i get to this will tell me a lot.....

This is a strange question. Do I detect that this question has romantic roots?

Because I would have to say that MOST of the people i know in this city are the decent living type. But, because I am a middle-aged woman, married 13 years, with a kid, most of the people I know are like me.

All that being said, I do remember before I met my really fantastic husband and was still on the dating circuit that I often felt a great deal of dispair at the options.

I don't think this has changed 13 years later. Buck up. There ARE good people out there. Step outside the box, so to speak, and perhaps accept that possibly what you really need is not at all what you want.

I think the percentage really depends on the people you choose to surround yourself with. Atlanta, as with any community or city, has status-driven folks as well as plenty of down to earth folks. I've lived here 16 years and find that friendly people are everywhere. I feel confident you could, too.

Default thanks

thanks for the input....the question did not have romantic roots....I am 45 and fairly happy being single......If you've never lived in big northern cities, maybe you don't know the types I am generally trying to avoid, or at least trying to move somewhere where there aren't so darn many of them....up here it really affects your quality of life to be surrounded by these types....they are generally hell to work with and are too self-absorbed to perform the duties of their jobs properly......which can affect you and your quality of life in countless ways.....

by the way Plessthanpointohfive, I am sorry to hear you find my question 'strange.' 2000+ posts huh? If you're one of these real estate/chamber of commerce types or someone with some other vested interest in controlling what people wish to discuss and express in their posts, spare me...been down that road before....and as long as I don't say anything really offensive, gee whiz, lady, I guess you'll just have to deal with something called free speech.
