WRDW is reporting the Costco store would employ 200 people.. The WJBF article reported 150 employees.. Either way this is going to be a large store..

The Costco company profile list the warehouse sizes as 73,000 to 205,000 square feet. Average store 142,000 square feet.

This is great news for the CSRA.Im actually rather suprised at the speed that things occured. Now before I get excited I want to see them actually breaking ground. WRDW is reporting that it will open by November 2011 so I guess we'd better get on the ball. I wish the developer would release some type of plan for the whole site soon. I believe they were up at some point on their website but nowhere to be found now. I know there will be people hating on the big box stores moving in and wanted more of a lifestyle center but i certainly believe we can have both.Ive said it before and Ill say it again, Id love to see a Village at Sandhill concept here in Augusta. I think the ground breaking is slated for the beginning of next year. The store will sit on 16 acres at the VAR.
Even Georgia Public Broadcasting printed a article today.
