We are military and moving to Augusta in July. We have a 2 year old and plan to have another. With my husbands job we will probably be there most of his career. We want to buy a great home in a great area in place that will most likely still be great in 10-15 years. We love the affordability of the new homes in Grovetown (chamblin, canterbury farms) but are unsure if the area will be great in the future. Ideally we would live in evans but our $150k budget does not allow near as much as say grovetown. Augusta would be an option as long as we know where to look. I am coming out in June for 1 weekend to look at houses and need a specific direction to look in. Recommendations for specific sub division would be appreciated. Any areas in Martinez to advoid? We want to be close to walking trails and parks. Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated!

Personally I would pick grovetown just because its closer to the base. Really any place in columbia county is going to be good in 10 years or so, because columbia county is suburban and still growing. As a whole columbia county is safe although there is a bunch of shady areas in martinez. West Augusta is nice too and very similar to evans/columbia county. West Augusta has more infrastucture however and is quite busy for being a suburban part of the city of Augusta. You can't go wrong with any of them really, but with you budget I go with grovetown or the new parts of grovetown that are expanding towards evans. Even the oldest subdivisions are still nice looking. The only thing is you have to go to evans/martinez and Augusta for shopping as grovetown is just being built up. Im sure you will shop on post for groceries as Fort gordon has an excellent commisary.
