Default Augusta, GA

Hello everybody i just graduated from college recently & was offered a job in augusta ga. I am a 25 yr old white female, but i grew up in a middle class black neighboorhood when i was young. So i dont have many white friends, i tend to associate with black people more than white. I have had white a bf before but dating black men is just diffrent. I would pefer to stay in a affluent or middle class black area. I wouldnt mind staying in a upper class white area, i just dont usually get along with some whites. I think because i was raise around other races, & they were stuck in their suburb paradise. So when they make comments, i tend to disagree or say thats not true. Some look at me like what is up with this girl. Can anybody tell me where the affluent or middle class blacks stay in richmond county. Also does augusta have a nightlife, & clubs where the ppl are diverse. What is the shopping like, also what do ppl do for fun in augusta. I have heard that the south is still a little backwards when it comes to interracial dating in some places. My dad who is divorce from my mom is a conservative who doesnt believe in interracial dating he still stays in texas. So i know georgia can't be worse than some towns or ppl in texas when it comes to diversity.

Affluent or middle class blacks live in pinnacle place or cambridge, or some near hephzibah in south augusta. They live in west augusta in belair estates, kingston, beliar/jimmie dyess area. Its some who stay in martinez/west augusta also. Some affluent blacks do live in the majority white columbia county, but to me some of them seen to be on that oreo, uncle tom mentality like i got money now, so let me look down on ppl like other races do. To me just my opinion blacks with money in richmond county, whether doctors, dentist, or lawyers tend to be michael jordan blacks, got money but still intune as we could say. Some blacks in columbia county seem to be on the tiger woods thing if you know what i mean. Also just a question but are you blonde, i tend to get hit on by blondes alot. I know its alot of black males, white female couples in the united states. But i went to europe recently, it was ridiculous, even russia who still has nazi's the women still love black men. I guess because in russia & most places in europe there's not that many. Downtown august has alot of nightlife, you see like it alot

Default Atlanta

You would be better off in metro Atlanta... huge professional black middle class.. great singles scene.. lots of nightlife.
The city of Augusta is slightly majority black.. but not professional or middle class. It's a poor city with great economic disparity and few professional high paying jobs. Many of the inner city neighborhoods look like shelled out portions of inner detroit or post katrina 9th ward New Orleans.
For decent shopping and entertainment.. be prepared to make a regular 2 and half hour drive to Atlanta..because you just won't find it in Augusta. There is a reason why it is known all over The South as "Disgusta."... and when you visit you will see for yourself. There are some people on here who will try and sugar coat Augusta.. they are doing you a disservice. They are likely blind to the reality of Augusta and have probably travelled very little in their lives and know nothing else. The hard truth is that Augusta is not a great place for a young single professional.. anyone that tells you differently is lying or is trying to spray air freshener over feces.

again disgusta is wrong, if you live in augusta you know driving to atlanta only for upscale shopping is becoming less & less every year. Its almost not even needed anymore. More ppl in augusta will rather drive to columbia 1 hr than atl 2 hrs. Disgusta atleast give facts. Richmond county median income was about a little over or at 40,000 columbia county our suburbs is over 60,000. Augusta has alot of proffessional, just come visit belair estates in west richmond county. Not one white family, in the whole neighborhood, but everybody is a doctor, lawyer, or dentist. The same thing with the neighborhood kingston in west augusta there is no single mothers only 2 parents, but it has a couple more white families living there. These are 2 neighboorhoods where i trust you if you move, everybody is some form of computer programmer, or principal, teachers, nurses, or working for the city of augusta or something to that extent. Nobody trying to sugarcoat augusta, it has what every city has million dollar homes, townhouses, lofts, then it has inner cities & trailer parks. Can you name one city in america that doesnt have this, even la & ny have some of the most poverty stricken areas in the country. Atlanta disgusta which you seem to love has some of the worst neighboorhoods, & areas in all of ga. Why isnt there alot of ppl who were born in atl still in atl, their population is yankees or floridans. But yet you are telling her to move there. 25yroldsinglewoman come to augusta im sure you will love it.

disgusta is trying to make augusta seem to be what its not at all. The city is great, its growing everyday. Drive down I-20 its construction for about 30 miles from columbia county to richmond county to aiken county.

Everything I have said about Augusta is true. Glad you enjoyed your stay.. but the statistics don't support your claims about Augusta. Crime is high..the downtown is dirty and rundown, the population and economy is stagnant. I don't know what your situation is.. but Augusta is not a great city for a young professional (where are these high paying jobs one can find in other metro areas?) If you are a military retiree whose only requisites are cheap housing and close proximity to a veterans hospital and a plethora of cheap buffet restaurants and wal-marts then I suppose Augusta would be paradise.

If augusta econony is so stagnant, why was augusta economy predicted by the Terry College of Business at UGA that our economy in 2007 would grow at a faster pace than the rest of the state. I never seen somebody just give false info everytime, & swear theyre correct. Everybody knows you dont like augusta, then stop replying on threads on augusta. Reply to threads dealing with cities you like. Thousands of ppl living in augusta think its a beautiful city
