Okay lol..... I noticed how you skip over the phrase'' including maintenance and engineering technicians'', but it's cool. Those are common job titles, and not fancy terms either.

Augusta was ranked #1 for engineers in terms of actual vs expected wages for salaries.

No, I said "all the other job titles you mentioned." We had maintenance and engineering technicians too and they made slightly more than minimum wage, but it was nothing to write home about. Fancy titles that weren't followed with fancy pay.

The previous link ranked Augusta #1 in the US for engineers actual vs expected wages. The link also had the median hourly wage for engineering technicians at $25.72, and not barely above minimum wage.

Engineers make $39.36 in Augusta, and only $39.54 in NYC.

Now Starbucks is bringing 140 jobs who pay 30% higher than the average wage in Augusta.

The plant just started construction this year, and I've already posted multiple links to back up my comments.

The only thing you have is your opinion.

Now watch this person go start another thread or bump one because of my facts.

Here is a site with an average salary for an employee at a starbucks roasting plant - 17K

Starbucks Roasting Plant Salaries | Simply Hired

Not exactly something to drop your old job for, but for a city with an unemployment rate higher than the national average, they should take what they can get.

It's funny when people try to be sarcastic, but don't even have their facts in order.

The plant in Augusta is not one of their roasting plants... MAJOR FAIL!!!!!!!!!!! I'll repeat it once again it's the first U.S. soluble products plant...

The same site has the average wage of maintenance engineers at $40,000

This site has the average wage of all salaries at $86,000.

Hmm, this article called it a roasting plant. I can't imagine a reporting agency in the south would ever get something wrong...

Columbia Regional Business Report | Columbia, SC

And as I said, with a city that has a higher unemployment rate than the US average with tens of thousands of people out of work, they should take what they can get. 140 jobs are sure to turn the Augusta economy around and make it the fastest rising city in the southeast...

According to this, 30% higher than the average pay would still be below the US average. Not good.

Moderator cut: link removed, linking to competitor sites is not allowed

Unemployment at 10%? Steep.

140 jobs = not the cure for unemployment in Augusta.

Which is pretty short-sighted. The developments Augusta is landed are great, but the Triangle in NC has a very large and wide knowledge base and that's what Augusta lacks in comparison.

Sprouse says the Starbucks site selection group looked at sites in North Carolina and South Carolina, as well as Augusta. “We worked with them for about a year,” he says. “One of the things they told us about the two other communities they visited was that they both had excellent industrial sites and Augusta had a very good site, but not an excellent one. ‘You guys have an excellent quality of life, but the other two have a good quality of life.”

Then, Sprouse says, the deal came down to one brief comment. “I said, ‘Give us three months and we can make our very good industrial site excellent, but they can’t make their quality of life excellent in three months.’”
I can't imagine that similarly-sized cities in the Carolinas were considered for a statement like that to be made.
