The Village at Riverwatch is going to bring thousands of additional shoppers from South Carolina into Augusta. The location in West Augusta sits next to I-20, Aiken County, Columbia County, and near downtown.

The location right next to the state line will push tons of growth towards exit 5 off I-20 in North Augusta. Hopefully people can still take the canal from the VAR to the Enterprise Mill near downtown.

The Augusta Exchange area continues to grow, and we definitely need another large theater. The old Regal Village theater was purchased in 2011, and I'm hoping the developer can turn the building into a smaller theater. The next theater should go on the south side, or in the urban core of the city.

I love both the Homegoods and NCG choices. I was actually looking forward to seeing how the first purposed plan of a lifestyle center would pan out.

I just wish they would choose other development choices like Lifestyle or festival market places.Like

The Shops at Friendly Center in Greensboro, NC,Friendly Center - 336.292.2789

Birkdale village, in Huntersville, NC Birkdale Village :: Birkdale Commons Pkwy & Sam Furr Rd, Huntersville, NC. 28078 :: 704-895-8744

or even Greenville, SC had had some great developments come forth lately. Shopgreenridge

I'm not entirely sure why CSRA area is stuck one one set of type of developments. Traditional malls I grew up with, heck my favorite malls are Simon malls, but I'm not sure yet why everything seems to end up with the same feel.

The Village at Riverwatch will probably end up looking similar to the Village at Sandhills in Columbia. The next development includes 300 upscale(three story)apartments.

Newcomers to Fort Gordon, future GRU students/faculty, young professionals, etc won't have any problems finding new class A apartments in the suburbs(1402 units underway/proposed). The good news is two of the developments are located in South Augusta, because West Augusta is full of apartments between $800-$1500 per month. The most recent apartment complexes were all built in West Augusta(Brigham Woods $900-$1400, Parc at Flowing Wells $800-$1400, & the cheapest one Avalon $700-$800)...

West Augusta
1. Village at Riverwatch = 300
2. Gateway Crossing(Carmax area formerly Wheeler Town Park) = 240

3. Helena Springs = 250

4. Sage Creek = 108

I'm confused, what apartment development is this posted by Nortonguy? Is it Riverwatch or is this tobacco Road? Is that why the land is cleared by Pepperidge subdivision?

The apartment that I mentioned first are in the VAR development.

I included six different communities(4 in West Augusta, and two in South Augusta). The cleared land next to Pepperidge is a single family neighborhood development.

The two communities in South Augusta are located off Tobacco rd and Peach Orchard going towards the city limits of Hephzibah.

While I am happy about construction occurring at the VAR, I am somewhat disappointed and feel that we are missing out on a chance to do something different. To say that the VAR will resemble the Sandhills in Columbia is a huge stretch. This appears to be another apartment complex just built near shopping. The beauty of Sandhills (and check out the Eddy Street Commons across from Notre Dame) is the fact that the housing is integrated with the shopping. In other words, walk out your door and there are options to shop and dine. No need for a vehicle and no need to cross multiple lanes of traffic. these 2 places truly offer an urban/main street feel. I think that WTP and the VAR are going to miss the boat on this one...BIG TIME

The apartment complex is located within the Village at Riverwatch... I don't think you can make any judgements until the final product.

The Gateway residential area is right in the middle of the Carmax area.
