Tallahassee isn't really a destination though.
If you're from Atlanta and heading to the beach, the vast majority go through Columbus. That's a known fact. Montgomery is way out of the way. Springbreak traffic in Columbus is a nightmare due to everyone from metro Atlanta heading to the beach. Columbus is the main gateway to the panhandle. It has been and always will be. Tallahassee is just much a destination as Columbia or any other mid-size capitol.

Honestly it depends on which beach you're going to. From Atlanta, it's a little more convenient to go through Columbus to head to PCB, but going through Montgomery then on to I-65 is a quicker route to get to Destin. I was talking to a former co-worker about a trip he took to Destin one time and he informed me that he went through Montgomery as that was a quicker route. Looking at Google maps, that appears to be the case.

But that's the point--Columbia's not really a destination either. Neither is Montgomery.

Either way, Augusta will obviously have more thru-traffic being located on a primary interstate. That's not Columbus's fault and doesn't say anything bad about your city; you can blame the state for that.

Actually google maps has the the quickest route going through Columbus, then Montgomery. Just like I thought. Next step is getting I-185 expanded to Florida, hopefully Tallahassee. There is a study being done now.

That would be great for Columbus, but it wouldn't give it more highway traffic than Augusta by any means.

For PCB, yes, but not for Destin.

It depends on what beach. Also, not everyone in metro Atlanta goes to Florida panhandle beaches. A lot go to east Florida and South Carolina beaches too. Its not like you chose to put Columbus where it was placed though. It just wasn't built on an interstate, and that is one of the main reasons among others that it gets a lot less traffic.

We must be looking at different videos then. The traffic in that video was extremely light.

What is this supposed to prove anyway? That Columbus gets more thru-traffic than Augusta? That Tallahassee is a destination? What exactly?

It's still traffic. And Columbus clearly get more traffic going West-East/East-West.
