Great new! I'm all for downtown living, and it's always good to see historic buildings being repurposed and renovated instead of being demolished.

If we kept this up I don't see how retailers can denied opening up downtown.

Canalside can't be finished soon enough if you ask any of the thousands of us commuting to and through the Medical District on a daily basis. What a nightmare!

The GRU Gateway Project may hurt the chance of getting a new grocery store in the CBD, but national retailers should be coming downtown pretty soon..

A new hotel and more office space(larger projects) will be announced sooner or later and will help attract new retailers...

The units will retain 11-foot-high ceilings and refinished original hardwood floors. Donahue said the apartments, starting at 600 square feet, will begin renting at $650 per month. In addition to the three-story building, Donahue owns the adjacent 39-space parking lot. Woodard said that Donahue’s development is one of several under construction downtown, like CanalSide in the medical district and the redevelopment of 1162 Broad St., that are adding needed residential units. “It just reinforces that people are returning to the urban core and want to live here,” she said, “and we can’t build housing fast enough.”

We thought 2014 was busy but 2015 will be even busier. Downtown is on a launching pad about to heat up for takeoff.
