I was inspired to create this thread after seeing a similar one in the city vs city forum. I must say, Augusta held its own against regional peers such as Columbia, Durham, Greensboro, Chattanooga and Huntsville. I hope this trend will continue and increase in the coming years.

Here's the numbers:

Non-Farm job growth Dec 2013-Dec 2014
Augusta:7,200+ 3.3%
Columbia:300+ 0.1%
Greenville:8,300+ 2.6%
Charleston:10,000+ 3.2%
Huntsville:3,200+ 1.5%
Durham:4,300+ 1.5%
Greensboro:6,800+ 1.9%
Chattanooga:4,700+ 2%
Knoxville:11,100+ 3.3%

Thanks for the info. Augusta has really picked up the pace in job growth recently . Hopefully that won't be short lived.

Cyber Command and everything associated with it is more than enough to continue the pace. Unisys expects to hire 250 of their 700 future employees by the end of 2014. Hopefully the permanent location at the former Fort Discovery is announced soon.

Great to see Augusta putting up similar numbers to those cities. The trend will definitely continue for the next few years.
