I think a location on post would certainly be convenient for the soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines stationed there.

Under the Service Members Relief Act, many active service members take advantage of lower ad valorem taxes in Richmond County while maintaining their permanent residences in other states, said Takiyah A. Douse, tag office director.
The Department of Revenue has already agreed to pay to install new circuitry for the office, planned to be located in Darling Hall at Fort Gordon, so the main expense to Richmond County would be providing a staff of two or three to work there, according to Kendrick.
CSRA Alliance for Fort Gordon Executive Director Thom Tuckey, who did not return a call seeking comment, is expected to present the request to an Augusta Commission committee Tuesday. The request would move to the full commission next week for approval.
“We wouldn’t do it without commission support,” Kendrick said. “If they do (approve), we stand ready to continue to support and improve our relationships with the soldiers there.”
Mayor Pro Tem Grady Smith said he’ll support any measure for soldiers who are “going wherever they’re needed for this country.”
As the military presence is only going to increase with the arrival of U.S. Army Cyber Command at the post, “It shows Fort Gordon that we’ve got the soldiers and the military at heart,” Smith said.

Good idea. A lot of active duty and retired service members live near the fort and it would be nice not to have to drive all the way to Highway 25 to get tags. Hope it comes to pass.
