I know there are many moving questions posts however -

We are in an IMMEDIATE rush. We are on the west coast and need to leave here on Feb 4th for husbands job at Fort Gordon. We do not have time to visit the area first. Nor do we want to stay in a hotel to search around if we can help it. (3 pets plus 2 helpers coming for drive/help). We would like to secure a home rental before arriving.

Schools are not any concern. Just my husband and I moving. Safety is the most important concern for me. We don't mind driving a bit to a mall, groceries, movies, etc. We're not really into bars or nightlife so that isn't a concern. I actually prefer to live a tiny bit from large cities. We are looking to be within about a 35 minute drive of Gordon. (if possible)

I absolutely need to avoid apartment living. I don't have the patience for living that close to others. I'm a tightwad with our money, so we're hoping to keep rent under $1300 but live in a nice house if possible until we buy.

Again safety is the most important thing.

Thank you in advance for any info anyone may provide.

The Grovetown area would be a good fit for what you describe. It's a growing area for sure, but outside of the hustle and bustle areas of Augusta. Plenty of amenities nearby for your regular needs like groceries, some fast food, etc, and easy access to I-20 for when you want to dabble in Augusta, Evans, North Augusta and beyond. Major plus is it's a very short drive to Fort Gordon's Gate 2 at probably 10 minutes tops, depending on what part of that area you locate in. Quite a few rental homes available in your budget in that area as well. Here's a link using your budget showing only rental homes: Rental Listings - 33 Rentals | Zillow

I definitely agree that Grovetown is probably your best option.

Grovetown or Harlem would work though I lean more towards Harlem atm unless you dont mind bumper to bumper traffic which Grovetown has currently and its probably not going to get much better anytime soon.

Graniteville and Hephzibah are places worth looking into.. The area right outside of Gate 1(Southwest Augusta/Belair area)(Haynes Station, Elderberry, Mccoys Creek, Granite Hill, Willhaven, etc) is another place you should check out.

I agree Grovetown proper or outside the Grovetown City limits would be a great area suited for the needs of your family. The traffic is far from horrible its gets congested a few times a day but anyone who has dealt with major city traffic wouldn't bat an eye.

I actually have a rental property that will be available mid February that's 4 Bed 2.5 bath fenced with a huge backyard but its a little outside your price range.

IHephzibah is your best bet right outside 5 gate. Basically 5min from. It new Walmart grocery for all your basic needs. And a short 15min drive to the mall. Really no traffic at all.

I don't think Grovetown is good option with the traffic situation..jmo

You may prefer Harlem or Hephzibah. Both have less hustle and bustle than Grovetown so would give you less of the traffic you find living closer to the city.
