Last post for me on this...

"When anyone compares cities and growth do they ever say I also want the crime and poverty."

As far as I'm concerned, yes I want a full picture. Glowing reviews and ignoring dissonance do not appeal to me.

I would rather Augusta grow and become the best city we can be... I do not think some "model" is important.

In closing, I do not contest the positives you stated about Baltimore at all.

That view point would make more sense if growth begets violence and poverty but the variables it takes to develop those circumstances are completely different. Augusta has a thriving industry that Augusta is trying to tap into information and experience won't hurt.

Downtown Augusta

This stage of the plan is to build 250 new apartments. About 102,000 square feet of industrial space has recently been made available for lease

Let's hope this actually happens and is not drawn out over a decade like The White's Building was.
It's one thing to announce a project in Augusta and another to actually complete it.
One thing the city could do to move this project along is to improve transit from the mills into downtown and the Medical district, like say having shuttles that run frequently every 15 minutes running a loop during peak times. Having reliable and frequent transit, and more dense and walkable neighborhoods is one way downtown can position itself at an advantage over surrounding areas. More bike and walking trails would also help, especially one that connects with North Augusta's Greeneway.
As it stands now, The Mills are somewhat isolated from the main parts of downtown.. not by much but there is definitely a gap, and it is a pretty good walk to get to the main areas of downtown. A transit loop would help close that gap along with biking and walking paths similar to Atlanta's Betline

It's already under construction lol. These post are hilarious. No wonder the Augusta forum is dead compared to the past.

How long was the White's building "already under construction"? It's a valid point, whether you want to hear it or not. The forum is 'dead' because cheerleaders don't bother as much as they used to, yourself included.

I am also reminded of The Watermark and now the big mystery project for the depot site that was heavily hyped more than a year ago, but no noticeable work has begun. And we still have no details of what it is supposed to even be if it ever gets under construction. The only construction we have seen at the depot is a surface parking lot for employees of Unysis next door.
Hopefully thing will be different for the mills, but we have also heard other big plans for the mills before. Remember Matt Kwatinetz? I really do hope this project pans out and actually happens, because it really would be transformative for Harrisburg (Unlike The much ballyhooed Crock Center) but it is hard not to be cynical when there have been so many big announcements in the past with little to show for them.

The ribbon cutting for EDTS was held in August 2017.
EDTS, Cape Augusta Cut Ribbon at Augusta Cyberworks Facility at Sibley Mill | Buzz On Biz

There's no point of arguing, because of the clear personal biases.

Two buildings are open on the Sibley Mill campus, EDTS and, most recently, the Cyber Works Academy.

Next, Cape Augusta plans to develop King Mill. Millar says it's going to be 265 apartments, and possibly some mixed-use space. The company also has big plans for Sibley Mill. "We're in discussions with a variety of hotel groups and hope to build a 150-room hotel. Historic, boutique-y, something a little different for the Augusta market."

New looks, uses for old Augusta mills

Too bad the trains cut off a large portion of that property. I saw the train going by there at about 8am this week and thought what a headache that will cause in the future. I can't imagine there is an economically feasible solution to that problem though.
