Only time will tell seems okay with me, I like their gun selection. Bass pro shops was supposed to go there before Gander Mountain they are the ones who backed out.

yes you are correct.i heard a rumor that came from somebody that works for Columbia county saying that bass pro was going to take it over and turn it in to a bass pro.maybe they meant cabelas because a deal was in the works for bass pro to buy cabelas

The story is that Bass Pro as of July of this year was looking to maybe buy Cabela's and if that were to happen I just can't picture them closing the existing Cabela's to move to an entirely new site unless the current lease is almost up.

That would mean they'd have to buy the Gander property and forego the Cabelas property they would already own at that point. Coupled with the fact that there's substantially more traffic in the center where Cabelas is, I'd say the likelihood of that is slim to none.

BP plans continue moving forward to buy out Cabelas. It's a slow process, now that Goldman Sachs is involved.

I would rather have seen one of them merging with GM instead. The people of Sidney, NE have been shaking in their boots - as BP will most likely shutdown the main store and move everything to Springfield MO

Gander Mountain is a step above Academy Sports + Outdoors, a step below Bass Pro Shops and Cabela's, and an alternative to REI.
