By adding more destinations, not only will this help the airport grow, it could be a great economic development tool.

"Augusta being a smaller airport we don't necessarily see more flights but we do see the dynamics of the travelers changing," he said.

People like families, travelers with more luggage, and less experienced fliers. But it's not the holiday season making these flights full or parking lots packed, they're used to it here.

"It's kind of a good problem to have we've had a couple of periods were at the parking lot is full and at capacity," the airport director said.

But they're almost done with a parking study, and in the next year you should start to see changes.

"So we're looking at the entire parking operations to make some enhancements and some improvements," Judon said.

Things like an off site rental car site where they'll store cars, temporary parking sites, and shelters over the parking ticket areas. All things to make the experience better.

Now, they're also looking at adding more at the airport.

"Myself personally and for the airport is would like to see more flights would like to see more options for our customers here locally," the airport director said.

Some potential flight destinations are D.C., New York, Dallas, and Chicago.

"We want to provide that connectivity for our customers. We know that at this point a lot of people either have to connect or go to another airport in order to get to D.C.," Judon said.

But adding flights, means being ready to take off in other areas.

"My goal is to grow the airport but as you're adding more flights and things like that there are other elements that you have to take into consideration," he said.

Things like parking, terminals, check points, and more all need to grow with the flights.

Now the airport is doing well. This year they got grant money to fix a taxiway out here. It is an award winning project that makes your take off safer and easier. But it also shows the airport is thriving and ready to grow.

"We want more flights but we also want to make sure that it is something that is sustainable for us," he said.

That's the other key, making sure you'll use them.

"It's extremely important today and as we get more flights that our local customers support the airport so that we can sustain these services once we get them," he said.
