I think South Augusta needs a clear vision and something of a centerpiece (Town Center) that the area can gravitate towards like Tobacco and Windsor Spring Road or even Diamond Lakes. South Augusta to me is just there and that has to change.

THat used to be Regency Mall. It was the main gathering place for South Augusta. I think Peach Orchard at Windsor Spring could become a town Center area for SA with the right planning. Right now it is just sprawl.

The whole deal with the Regency Mall is the reason we need a Strong Mayor form of government. No way a massive mall should sit empty at one of the most important gateways into South Augusta for 15+ years and no one held accountable. I'd like to see Tobacco and Windsor Spring develop into something like Mullins Crossing.

Regency Mall is private property and the owner wanted $50 million. I don't see how a strong mayor form of government could be any different.

Peach Orchard is suppose to become similar to Mullins Crossing. The town center is planned for Tobacco at Windsor Spring.

There is a lot a strong mayor can do about it like hold the owners responsible for its upkeep or using something like eminent domain to have the property turned into a public greenspace.

The property is up to code. Imminent domain is going to be very expensive. Trust me, everything you mentioned has been debated numerous times.

I know the subject just cross my mind again is all. I am interesting in redeveloping the Tobacco Rd/Windsor Spring area though. There's a ton of land out there. I wonder what a potential redevelopment would look like?
