The CHAMP units will be out and about along East Central Georgia on I-16 between Bleckley and Emmanuel Counties also on I-20 in the Augusta area this Tuesday 2/21/2017. CHAMP which is a highway safety program. Like HERO (Highway Emergency Response Operators) which is basically for the Atlanta metro area. CHAMP stands for Coordinated Highway Assistance and Maintenance Program. By March 7th the GDOT will expand services into West Central Georgia including I-75 and I-85. With HERO and CHAMP Georgia has the nation's first highway partrol service. If anyone is in need of roadside assistance in East Central Georgia the number to call will be 511.
