A federal agency currently investigating the goings on in DC has let it be known that many of the phone scammers are actually being run/supported by Isis and AlQueda (spelling?). They call pretending to be the IRS or courts and scare people into sending them money which if the rumor is true, can be used to fund terrorist activities.
Please, people of the CSRA, never fall for these scams. The IRS and law enforcement will never call you and demand money. If you get such a call, hang up and call the agency that called you. Also, as I have posted before, use your caller ID and if you don't recognize the caller just don't answer. Better than possibly missing a call than having your life savings stolen. It's been said that over 90% of calls from people you don't know are some kind of scam. They're crooks out to get you and they will if you are not on your guard.
