Commute from downtown augusta to Hephzibah South augusta
Hey! I currently live in cleveland, ohio with my fiance and we are looking to relocate to Georgia sometime in the near future. We have visited augusta about 5 times now already. My husband will be working in downtown augusta for his job. I want to know do many people commute from hephzibah to augusta for work. Also what about the area of goshen. We really like the area is it a safe place in augusta. We are both in our early 30's and want to be close to work, entertainment and convenience. But not actually living in the city just close enough. Any more suggestions/responses on nice neighborhoods are greatly appreciated!

It's a bit of a trek, but not impossible. Do you have any children? Just a head's up, Richmond County schools are not the best in the area. Also, have you considered North Augusta, SC? It's soooo much closer to downtown AUG, and it a very nice growing area.

Don't live in Disgusta! Definately look into North Augusta. I mean if you have to live in this Hell Hole.. then at least choose a decent part of it.

North Augusta is decent but dont let people scare you about Augusta. Our magnet schools rank the 2nd and 3rd in GA.(sry dont have link though but you can look up Davidson and A.R johnson)and we have a low crime rate.Downtown is getting better and there are only a few people who are crazy as Disgusta_truth.We look forward to seeing another productive citizen.(btw Augusta is far from any suburbs style which is my favorite part about it

You may want to look into Evans area (Columbia County) or Lofts downtown (if you don't have kids). We currently live in a loft downtown and plan to build out in Evans. We've done the downtown thing for a while (2 years) and are looking for something different. Commute time from Evans to downtown would be about 20-30 minutes. Think you'll like it here. NO SNOW!!!

No flaming allowed in this forum but do not listen to Disgusta Truth. That ididot is not a member and never has anything good to say. Would be nice to get that person off of here. There are a lot of nice to really great suburbs of Augusta including North Augusta and Beech Island that are worthy of mention. Traffic is currently a problem with ongoing I-20 Construction. Have several friends in Hepz. and they all rave about it. Nearby Grovetown is very nice too. Small town feel close to big city stuff. Goshen is a very prestiegous place to live. Hope you like golf. Schools nearby, Airport really close but not much on shopping. The closest area to Goshen is industrial area but easy drive to Augusta. Martinez, Evans area has great neigborhoods as well but have to deal with construction next 5-8 years. It really depends on what type of environment you are looking for. Schools, Public Utilites, Population etc.

The drive from the Hepzibah area to/from downtown shouldn't be bad - either using I-520 which is very free of traffic, or using US1 (Gordon Hwy) - not very scenic drive, a few stop lights - but can be a fast drive into downtown area.
One thing about N. Augusta,SC - you'll have different state/city taxes there - as you might in downtown Augusta. Would be wise to know the implications of living in the different areas. I'm not sure if Richmond vs Columbia taxes are less/more, too.
Hepzibah is country, and kind of poor, just FYI.
