Another Augusta area restaurant is closing its doors.

Tin Lizzy's, located on Washington Road next to World of Beer and Miyako, notified customers it officially closed Wednesday.

A sign posted on the door says:

"Thank you for your support and patronage, it has been a privilege to honor and serve you. Unfortunately, Tin Lizzy's Augusta is closing its doors effective 2/27/19."

Tin Lizzy's Cantina in Augusta opened in March of 2015. The Atlanta-based restaurant replaced Roadrunners on Washington Road.

They closed their location in Columbia earlier this week too, that location opened up about the same time the one in Augusta did in 2015.

Shame. The wife and I enjoyed Tin Lizzy's fairly often.

Well that didn't last very long. Again I think it was a bad location. Had they opened in Evans or burgeoning Lewiston Rd exit, it might have done well. Then again, I never ate there so maybe the food and service just sucked

I highly doubt that location had anything to do with it, the food was just very forgettable. I'm surprised it closed though as it seemed to be right in that wheelhouse of quality/price that Augusta seems to thrive on. Especially with the fairly large military discount, a nice bar area.

He believes everything should be in Columbia County, specifically in Evans. He bashes Augusta routinely on here.

No major developers believe Evans and especially Grovetown is a better place than West Augusta for commercial projects.

No large retailer has picked Columbia County except Gander Mountain and it’s eating him up on the inside. Especially when you spend all day on this forum trying to convince people Evans is this magical place.

Actually location has a lot to do with the success of restaurants. That location has a history of a string of failed restaurants. I can think of at least 5 in that very same space that have failed. Plus if you want to attract the military crowd and Fort Gordon, then locate closer to the base and where they live. Here in Grovetown area there is a ton of residential growth from the fort but we still lack a lot of good casual sit down restaurant..so they may survived had they come here where the growth is. That Washington Rd corridor would have made more sense if this was 1999 vs 2019. And pretty soon that entire stretch will become ANGC property. Those places on Washington Rd may get business during Masters week, but it's the other 51 weeks out of the year that matter.
