Hello all I am thinking of relocating to the Augusta/Richmond County area. I currently live in Pennsylvaina/New Jersey with my husband and 4 year old daughter. I use to live in Lawrenceville, Ga and we loved it there but the jobs were not paying much and I could not find a job. Atlanta is so overcrowded now compared to 1998 it was beautiful then and jobs were plentiful. I am kind of scared to move because right now my husband makes like 44,000 a year here but we don't like it here at all no more think we outgrow it. Also the ecnomy is not so good right now. We would be staying with his dad until we got on our feet and then branch off to Evans, Ga.
How is Augusta and the job market for a Food Service Supervisor and Registered Medical Assistant? How are the schools there and getting medical assistance until we get on our feet? How can you get a job on the military base there? Is the crime really getting bad there? Please help before we make another mistake would love to go back to Lawrenceville, Ga but it will be my 3rd time want to try some where diffrent. |

Your husband & you will find work pretty quickly in Augusta in the medical field and military. The schools are not really splendid, but there are some good schools in the county. I don't know about medical assistance. Crime isn't like in your face crime, but it is out there. There are plenty of affordable apartments and townhomes. Hope this helps.

as the previous poster said, you should not have too much trouble finding jobs in Augusta in your fields... the medical and military sectors are the strongest sectors in what is a pretty weak job market overall. Be prepared to make less money in Augusta... salaries are lower than they are in metro atlanta and much lower than they are in NJ/PA, but then the cost of living is also lower.

Yeah medical jobs and military are always hiring in augusta. And you won't be the only person from atlanta in the area either. I just moved here from alpharetta about 2 years ago. I really like what they're doing to the city.
