You just don't understand do you? Go back to school and maybe you will. The county population includes the cities. The city has its own census also because it's incorporated. The city of Greenville, SC has a population and Greenville County has a population which includes the city of Greenville and other incorporated cities in the county.

Columbia county population was just about 85,000 not too long ago. Now in 2007 its over 110,000. Aiken county population has grown to 150,000 and more. Richmond county and augusta population is starting to pick back up also. With the new residential going up downtown for the city. And all the new houses in south richmond cities like Hephzbiah that will add to the county population.

Even if this was true adding these in won't change the growth there much. Its not going to make you go from a growth of 31 people to over 11,000+ in a year. Augusta is playing catch up big time.

And it still doesn't equate to the population growth Greenville is having, so whats your point? Greenville County gained almost 12,000 people in just one year!

Exactly my point. But do people call greenville greenville county. Augusta is called richmond county because its consolidated with most of the county. Those stats could have been just for the city of augusta. And not for richmond county. On the census it says augusta richmond county but its for the city of augusta. How much do you want to bet that they just type in augusta and not richmond county.

Augusta has a population of 189,336 while Richmond County has a population of 197,372. The city of Greenville has a population of 57,428 while Greenville County has a population of 428,243. This is according to Census website. Strict annexation laws is why the City of Greenville has such a small population. Even Spartanburg County whoops Richmond County when it comes to population numbers: 275,534
