Is Augusta a big city
I'm from raleigh, nc and was riding down interstate 20 today. It was my first time being in the augusta area. Anyway I noticed how many cranes and signs of construction. Were going on near the interstate. The construction was really impressive actually. Seems like more than enough was happening. How big is augusta?

The construction work on I-20 in richmond county isn't supposed to rap until 2010. I think their widening I-20 to 6 - 7 lanes in richmond and 4-5 lanes on each side in the burbs. Their also building a half diamond, overpasses, retention loops, new interchanges, and a spaghetti junction like the one in atl. Except it will be more flamboyant. But construction will still be going on in the suburbs of augusta on the interstate after 2010. The forum and wheeler town park are just starting construction now off the interstate. Overall augusta is growing by leaps and bounds. Its a good size city.

When they make 520 palmetto pkwy connect to I-20 in south carolina. Are they going to build flyovers. Similar to what they're doing at I-20/520 in west augusta.

They're trying to do so many projects at one time. I try to avoid the interstate at any cost most of the time.

It's supposed to be done in 2009 the last I heard. The South Carolina leg that is. The new interchange on the Georgia side is supposed to be finished in 2010.

It depends on what you consider a big city. I would call it a mid size city as I consider big cities to be like Atlanta or New York.

I just can't wait until 2010 to see how big Augusta is by then.
