"Gone but not Forgotten in Augusta"
Do you have memories from childhood or just a few years back? Do you ask what used to be there? Where was that! We had so much fun there ! Do you reminisce about days gone by? This is your thread.

ANDERSONS SWIMMING POOL. Currently there is a Wall Mart and a Sams club on the property that used to be owned by Andersons. Our family had seasons passes to the pool and grew up there. They had a Juke Box near the pool tables that allways played Aerosmith Music. Evertime I hear one of their songs it takes me back.....OHHHH memories!

Sure do. James Brown, Sky City, The Regency Mall.....anyone remember Misty Waters? I remember Masters week when I was a kid and being excited that we were out of school for an entire week and having that feeling of hometown pride that Augusta would be famous for at least one week! I remember when The Regency Mall was the "it" mall and the Augusta Mall was too small and too "expensive". I remember the neighborhood that ran alongside Augusta Mall and my great uncle would have us over to watch the 4th of July fireworks.
I remember Daniel Village 1.00 movie, where I had my first "date". Lots has changed about the Augusta, GA area since I was a kid, most of it for the better in my opinion.

I also remember all of that but Masters week has always meant school vacation but I still don't care for the traffic. Misty Waters didn't really impress me that much but the Regency mall was the place to be. Who is James Brown?

Hahaha, I know this is an older thread, but cool to see. I use to LOVE Anderson's, Ehh Misty waters was ok. But Anderson's was the bomb! But I really hated it when the poured all that sand in there and made it look like a gigantic lake! Oh and the Regency Mall, I loved that place. Especially the movie theater. Remember when the Regency Apts were brand new and actually very, very nice and SAFE. I use to love going to the McDonalds on Deans Bridge/Gordon Hwy. It had that cool bridge with the lights and water. Oh and the butterflies I use to get when going over the Butt Memorial Bridge. Actually I still do, if I go fast enough.

Mostly I remember what's long past (appropriate, since I haven't lived in Augusta for a decade, now). I, too remember Daniel Village's $1.00 movie. I lived off of Murray Road before Riverwatch Parkway phase I was built, and it ended at Alexander. Calhoun Expressway had just opened when I moved there, and my Mom worked at the Grey Goose. I had a brother who worked at Phillippe's, a fine French restaurant that was located on the Hill.
Augusta has definitely changed immensely since I left, as I am reminded every time I return for a visit.
