a few weeks ago, the Chronicle had a story that construction had started @ the village of Riverwatch, an would now be fast-tracked.
I drove by there yesterday (the back parking lot of Comcast) and there wasn't a construction vehicle in sight, or any sign of human activity.
Is this project finally dead?

I wondered the same thing. Did you happen to notice the signs have changed again? Only mentioned Bass Pro Shop...Its a shame.
This project done properly (access to the canal for restraurants to overlook, keeping the trees, the right retail mix) would ahve been a boon to the area...

Are construction vehicles on site yet or does it still look the same as a few days ago?

I'll drive there today, and update this post. There should be some equipment (or something)if this was still actively being built.
I have to drive to Charlotte next Tuesday (I live in Martinez) so that will give me 2 more opportunities to drive by this site mid-week.
Just because I report that I am seeing (or in this case, not seeing) something that you don't like, doesn't make me a troll. I want this project as much as anyone. I live off of Evans-to-Locks Road, and use the bike trail down to the canal. I envisage a time in the future when there will be a second pedestrian overpass connecting the canal trails to this project. I also kayak, and the original plans for this project had some docks being built.
Also, why would anyone be surprised? Read the newspaper! 100 year old established companies can't get credit. This might be a manifestation of this.

Is this project getting built or not? I still haven't seen a site plan or updated tenant list.

Nope. We have a large mixed use project that starts construction at the end of this year: Magnolia Park Shopping Mall in Greenville, South Carolina

I went to the Greek festival downtown, and on the way back I pulled into the Comcast parking lot.
No sign of any construction equipment at the Riverwatch site.
