Default Waynesboro "area", South of Augusta

A friend has had a successful phone interview, and has been invited for plant on-site interview in next couple weeks. Facility is in Waynesboro. Woman & two boys [10 and 15], enjoy the outdoors, rural living [hiking, bike riding, hunting, fishing, photography, soccer, softball...], yet like to be w/in ~1 hour of larger city that has culture, concerts, sports, dining, shopping, etc. to offer [such as Augusta would]. Have worked in the NW corner of GA before, love the south, so no issue there. Looking for advice/comments regarding where would be good place in the country to look, 3-10 acres, modern house for not much more than $260k. So, any recommendations on the above, along with comments about towns and areas w/in 45 minutes of Waynesboro that might be helpful, unique, and/or interesting to know. Thanks!

Aiken is wayy too far for a commute to Waynesboro. I'd look somewhere in the southern portion of Richmond County. Hephzibah is a southern suburb of Augusta about 20-30 minutes from Waynesboro.

Hephzibah would have you in between Augusta and Wanyesboro. That's where alot of the growth is happening in Hephzibah. Two elementary schools were built about a year and half a ago. There building another middle school now. Some areas have a 30815 zip code. Even though they are not in the city limit. Savannah river pkwy is in the area so you can take trips to savannah.

Not downing Aiken. I'm sure its a wonderful place to live. Just looking at it from a practical point of view. IMO Voyager, you should take a good look at the entire Augusta-Aiken, GA-SC Metro area to get a better idea of where you'd want to live. Hephzibah is just the closest town to Waynesboro with comparable population. Millen & Sylvania to the south would probably be too far and not worth the drive. Besides, why live in either of those small towns when you could just as easily live in Waynesboro itself or to the north and be closer to Augusta. :End Ramble: =)

Your friend may want to make sure that the job is in Waynesboro. The largest employer in Burke county lists its address as Waynesboro. But is almost 23 miles from the center of Waynesboro. Depending on where the job is actually located, you have numerous options. Wish them luck

Screven County (Sylvania), GA is a very nice place. Low crime rate, low population but one of the 10th largest counties in Georgia. Lots of land, few people and no traffic jams. Hunting and fishing is great! Screven County is next to Burke County. We are 25 miles from Plant Vogtle and exactly half way between Augusta and Savannah, GA. I have a cabin rental & RV resort located less than 2 miles from the Savannah River boat landing and next to the Tuckahoe Wildlife Management Area which is 17,000 acres of public hunting & fishing. We are nestled back in the woods so plenty of places to ride 4-wheelers, hiking, etc. Also, amazing sunrise in the mornings! My place is gated, so it is very safe. If interested, you can reach me at 912-682-3974.
