What did Regency Mall look like in its Hey Day. Can people submit their memories and photos of the Mall. I remember the train and how I looked forward to riding it during Christmas. I can honestly say that the Augusta Mall or other malls that I have been to does not come close to what Regency offered for kids at Christmas. Aside form the negative image it developed during its later years, what pleasant memories do you have of the mall.

I loved the Arcade the most and when I became "legal" the Bulldog Lounge. It was there I first saw a CD jukebox. I also loved the corn dog stand and Orange Julius. My favorite stores were Camelot Music, Shalimar/Oh Calcutta, Wards and the Tinder Box.

My memories of it in the day was "crowded". Even after that other mall opened, RM was the place to go. You could spend the entire day there staying amused. I also have faint memories of it getting built and the anticipation that built up to the grand opening. There were rumors floating around my school that there was even going to be a subway train that would shuttle people from one end of the mall ot the other seeing it was such a big mall at the time. Of course, there wasn't a subway but it was still a cool place to go to.

The only bummer was that there was a significant number of stores that never opened. Signs were placed saying "future home of _______", but those stores never seemed to open. Maybe the mall was doomed from the beginning given the occupany rate.

I was never a big fan of Regency Mall. It was not as brightly lit and many sections of the mall never attracted tenants. It also didn't have a traditional food court like Augusta Mall... food places were just scattered all over the mall. It was definately the lower class mall. It always attracted more riff raff...though at the beginning it wasn't too bad, but then got much worse by the late 80s and early 90s. I did like the center court area of the regency mall and how they had a stage where they would have performances ever so often. Now the place is just a major eyesore and needs to be torn down.
