Default Nice area to live downtown

I'm moving to the city in the coming month's ahead. I am living in the nashville area now at the time. I just visited Augusta recently and didn't know what to expect. It was my first time visiting ever in my life. The city had things going on and I found the downtown quite charming. Obviously Augusta isn't with Nashville. But it felt like a good size city while there. Im trying to find a nice loft/apartment downtown to live. The downtown seems pretty vibrant and I could really enjoy myself. I saw a good bit of people while down there the week I visited.

Check out anywhere on broad street downtown. Also enterprise mill, whites building, olde towne, and others. Downtown gets better day by day. Augusta is growing up alot.

Be aware that construction has halted on the white's building.. something about the FDIC seizing control of the bank that made the construction loan.. anyway it's a big mess.. only 12 units of a 54 unit project have been completed.. and there is no word if or when the rest will be finished. The developers are not even giving tours of the building anymore. It's a real shame, because it is in a great location. Check with local realestate offices that specialise in downtown, they may have the insider knowledge of where the available lofts on Broad are at. Enterprise Mill is nice and is within a 5 minute walk to Broad Street... its a renovated textile mill... the lofts are huge.. I think it is rental only though. I know that Rex properties has a lot of downtown lofts.. they may be a good resource.
