LOL, here comes the name calling. How are you going to tell such bullcrap when I have been on I-20 and have seen the site?? There is nothing but an empty CarMax building, and you make it seem like that everything is blooming like flowers in the spring. Sheesh, no need to fib about a development.

Sheesh, don't try to be a mind reader. Please stick to your day job. You are assuming want you want too from the sentence. Only a idiot would take in plain sight. And think it means blooming with flowers in spring. YAWN NEXT!

You obviously want this argument to continue, but I shan't fall into that. NEXT.

I personally don't see the purpose of building these fake "town centers" out in the burbs when we have a perfectly good town center called Downtown Augusta that is being underutilized. I'd rather see more retailers opening in downtown first before we start building all of these "town centers" out off I20. It was the shopping malls that killed downtown in the first place.. now we are trying to bring it back. I'd like to see special tax incentives to encourage these retailers to locate in downtown. I know parking has always been an issue with businesses downtown. If the city had strategically place, well secured parking decks ar both ends of Broad Street with a circulator shuttle connecting the two would help. Chattanooga did this, and it has been rather successful. All of this sprawl out along I20 really isn't all that attractive and it doesn't help downtown. There is so much available space in downtown.. lets use it first.

I agree! While I love new business coming to Augusta period... I feel that these new town center (specifically VAR) is a big step back for downtown Augusta.

I have always felt that Mullins Crossing in Evans was a good 2-3 yr shot in the foot for downtown, and stretched Augusta in the wrong way (on the other hand.. it has made Evans more of a separate eco-center).

Business moving downtown will encourage a parking solution. Parking scarcity is a good thing! Means things are moving in the right direction. Parking needs to be resolved. On the other hand, I have personally heard of large business that will not relocate (or start) downtown because of parking. Low rental rates are appealing though.

West Augusta is apart of the city of Augusta. It does have some suburban areas though. The only true suburbs in richmond county. Are Hephzibah/Mcbean and Blythe in south richmond. Because they are all in richmond county. They have their own city limits and are not consolidated with the rest of the county. Downtown is getting better daily. But I agree more can be done to make downtown even more vibrant than it is.
The city is building a parking deck on reynolds. Across from the tee center.

A Gap, Limited, American Eagle, Old navy, or Ambercombie and Fitch. Would do very good downtown on broad street. Finding parking is not a problem downtown execpt for broad street. Availble parking on broad especially between 12 noon and 4 pm can be a nightmare.

WTP was nothing but acres of trees a couple months ago.. Then it became cleared land. Then i saw the curb and gutter go up for Carmax. Then I saw Carmax appear. Now i see curb and gutter/ and site work for other buildings. Like I said it has changed every time i rode through. So they are moving along pretty quickly.

Why would anybody be scared to admit if WTP was on hold. If it has construction going on everyday. Then obviously its not on hold. PJA told you another building is going up. Canuk in Augusta just told you they are doing alot of site work. And he or she said they saw a new built fence in WTP. Harrat told you that the site has changed everytime he has rode through. So people wouldn't be telling you this. If WTP was on hold. There are bulldozers on the site.

I kept reading on here about this supposed "Town Center" off Wheeler Rd and I20.. when happened to be in that area, I swung by and took a look... and saw nothing that resembled the description. I knew about the proposed Carmax, but figured a "town center" was different. And I believe someone on here mentioned a Gander Mountain being built there. I saw absolutely no evidence of that whatsoever, and there is no mention anywhere outside these forums of a Gander Mountain coming to Augusta. .
A town center is being built out there. The name is wheeler town park. All the construction thats happening wouldn't be going on everyday. If Carmax was the only part of WTP. Since Carmax is already built. There would be no need to continue construction like they are doing now.
