We did not make it to Woodruff Rd. We saw what we wanted to...Will most likely come back again...2-4 x a year...Gives you something to do on a Saturday. We have added it to our list of places to return to...
And I spent some money at a pretty cool Kitchen store near the corner of Main and Augusta Rd. Lots of "useful gadgets" that I did not know I needed...
We ended coming up I-26 to I-385. I know its longer...But I do better and meet less of the local police force if I stay on the highways. I seem to have trouble when the speed limits jump around...If you know what I mean...

I think it is very doable here in Augusta. We just need the will to do it.

My wife and I talked about the narrowing the road...Its very similar to Holland Michigan. 10 or 15 steps and you are across the road. Made it easy to jump back and forth...
As you mentioned...By widening the side walks you can develop a cafe area...And with the right heating for winter and fans/misters in the summer...have it available year round...I looked at a maps of both Paris and Brussels (both places that are great cafe cities)...a vast majority of the roads in the city center are at most three to four lanes total...Why does Augusta need the same?
BiLo Center to higher end hotel to downtown shopping to the Arts area that kind of lead to the the baseball stadium...They did a good job...
I wish Augusta to get some fo that vibe...

My thoughts -
Downtown Greenville...Augusta could only hope to be that nice. Numerous restraurant selections - French to Japanese, Atlant Bread to Trio's, Several Brew Pubs...Great selection. Not a lot of shopping...but it did have a Mast Department Store (quite a hoot), Loose Lucie's, and some nice shops down by Augusta Street.
The Arts area along with Waterfall park...Very pretty. Some pretty impressive new buildings blending with some old ones. And the Downtown baseball stadium seemed very nice. and seemed to be sparking a revival in the blocks leading to the stadium...
Haywood Mall - Has some stores that Augusta Mall does not have (J Crew for my wife). Other than that, I would give the plus to Augusta Mall. And I think that North Lake and Southpark in Charlotte are MUCH nicer than either one...
Overall a nice day trip...More to see
|
Northlake is not that nice. It has so nicer stores. However, it has a lot of teenagers and people that come from East Charlotte. It is sort of like a regular mall. SouthPark is very nice. Charlotte pretty much has one nice mall (SouthPark), Two Regular Malls (Northlake & Caroline Place) and one very bad mall (Eastland). I have never been to Augusta, but I still think that Greenville has better stores. The inside of Haywood is very nice. I like it better than Augusta Mall. It has a Pottery Barn & J. Crew. As someone mentioned before: "Augusta is nice because it has ....., Hollister,... etc. Hollister is higher end than AE & Aero, but Abercrombie & Fitch is the upscale teen retailer. Which Augusta does have. I know that Haywood has had both for a long time. Probably since 1999 if Asheville got it in 2001. They probably have had HCO since 2003. Haywood got the first Aerie store in the chain. I do not shop there because im a man and I love upscale. Just pointing that out. If you made a list of nicer stores in both cities, I bet Greenville would have more.

Yeah,I agree 110% with that. When it comes to one of the finest and most positive things about Augusta,we have an unbelivable mall here for shopping and with the expansion they completed, there even more stores to choose from.Shopping here is great, and not only do people here shop, but people come from everywhere between here and Atlanta to shop at the mall.Few places can boast and say that, but we can

Does anyone see valet at the Augusta mall anytime soon? Maybe at the main enterance, and at PF Changs (restaurant or area)?
Maybe not now, but eventually I think this could be a very plausible situation much like Atlanta has.

In front of the promenade, main entrance. and the entrance by mccallister's. A valet for the promenade is plausible now. I wonder will the mall still build a hotel. They were saying a Hotel would be bulit.

what does the board think about a Augusta valet company in general? would they survive? (if so.. I will start a new thread talking about where, etc.)
