I thought its supposed to be open in June or July. Its only may as of right now. I haven't been to the mall in a couple of weeks. So I don't know if its inside or on the outside.

With the recession, I wouldn't expect any new retail for a while.. probably not till next year. Maybe they will open before christmas shopping season.

There are a few possible spots it could go inside the mall with a few businesses having closed. There was serious construction going on downstairs across from JC penny. something is going in there. that would be a pretty good spot for them to open up.

Well, job listings are up so they must be opening soon. Apple is recession proof as is most of the tech sector.

Apple - Positions

Apple may be like Dicks and Barnes Nobles where it has entrances outside... But you can still enter the inside of the mall..

a vanilla box in the mall can be retrofitted to anything within a couple of weeks.

i would look for it to be complete about 4 weeks before opening day; article said it may open in july, which means construction could start as last as june.

My guess would be it's going in the new outdoor lifestyle portion of the mall.

it will be interesting to see where they put it. I have never seen an apple store with an outside entrance so that would be cool. i was at the mall yesterday and there are actualy 2 spots side by side across from jc penny that are way big enough to house the store, and there is some fast and furious work going on there. the thing about apple stores is it really doesnt matter where you put them people will come, thats why i think they will keep it inside the mall. they automatically drum up traffic. I was at an atlanta mall during tax free weekend last year and the apple store was packed inside with about 200 people in line outside in the mall. I bet augusta mall folks would love that
