gagurl1 is on a distinguished road
Wow, thanks everyone for all the info. I'm still in the planning stages, so I have no clue as to where and when I will be making the move that I know is inevitable.

Another question: What is the school district like in Augusta? I would like to start back teaching wherever I move, so a good school district is also important.

My niece works for Richmond county schools.. and she is trying to transfer to Columbia County schools. You do have some very good teachers in richmond county schools,, but you also have alot who just show up for a paycheck. You have an adminstration who that is too heavy on bureaucracy and paying a PR firm six digits per year to spin positive news, rather than doing the things necessary to improve conditions at the local schools. Richmond county schools are actually downsizing and cutting back teaching positions through attrition. YOu would probably stand a slightly better chance in Columbia or Aiken CO school systems.. but the economy has put a huge strain on school budgets. It may be hard to get a teaching job at a public school in the next year or so. YOu may want to try private schools.
