The pic shown above is no wider than I-85 in Greenville is right now. Which backs up with traffic everyday and is 3 lanes on both sides. Keep in mind you must also have emergency lanes.

Is this a "who's got the biggest highway" contest?
Refer to the link posted from the GADOT website, full plans and budgets are disclosed there.
There are several projects going on out there at one time, which has already been discussed here.
It has been approved to construct 3 travel lanes from exit 172 in McDuffie County to the GA/SC state line but bridges have to installed crossing the Savannah River and Canal.
I like what they are doing, it will be a major improvement.

Too bad I20 won't be widened to 3 lanes each way on the SC side from the river to atleast Hwy 25 where I520 is supposed to reconnect with I20.. but then again you are dealing with SC, and it takes them forever to get a road built.

This isn't really true, because Greenville and Columbia's interstates were widened years ago. Augusta is just playing catch up. I-85 is scheduled to be widened to either 8 or 10 lanes I believe, so Augusta is still behind its peers.

As far as widening goes Augusta is not playing catch up as it was already 3 lanes on both sides in several places. They were referring to the North Augusta portion which which is in SC and how slow they are about finishing their road projects. They are just now finishing their portion of 520.

520 is already 4 lanes on both sides between wrightsboro and gordon and will be 4 lanes from gordon to wheeler by next year. Plans are to go from 3 lanes on both sides from deans bridge to wheeler and then later from peach orchard to wheeler.
I-20 is also 3 lanes between belair and 520. Part of that will be four lanes soon.

I don't remember seeing 4 lanes on both sides when I was last there and the Augusta traffic wasn't heavy enough for it. If there are any it might be where traffic merges on or off the freeway. As a matter of fact I remember I-20 only being 4 lanes total and it wasn't crowded. Oh, and Augusta is indeed playing catch up. It lacks things that Greenville, Columbia, Greensboro, etc has.

Why don't Greenville & Columbia have Sephora ? Augusta has one
Why is there no Imax in Greensboro, Greenville, & Columbia? Augusta has Imax

Name all of the things these cities have and count them and see if your post makes sense. For every 1 thing you name that Augusta has that these cities don't, I can name at least 7 things to 1 that these other cities have that Augusta doesn't. Are you game? This is the only way you will see. Again, I appreciate your enthusiasm though.

Dude whatever who cares you win. Augusta still has Imax, Sephora, Apple, Jared galleria of Jewelry, etc and Greenville doesn't.
