As long as you avoid Washington Rd between I20 and the course... you are just fine.. and that's quite easy to do (unless you want to go to a business right on that strip)... Overall the traffic is not that bad aside from that area... it in no way is like Atlanta traffic.. not even close. You can still very easily get around town as long as you avoid Washington Rd by the course. The better restaurants are going to be next to impossible to get into though. Most locals take riverwatch pkwy to avoid the traffic on Washington Rd

The traffic on I-20 in one direction to Atlanta. Then the other direction to Columbia is definitely major city traffic. During Master's week.

Better restaurants my eye i defy you to get into anything outside of Burger King without an hour and a half wait LMAO.. Washington RD backs up all the way to Broad St and Riverwatch is usually packed in the morning and afternoon as well. Lets not forget too the road constuction on both the S.C and G.A side will add even more to the misery. Here is the reality, Masters week is a headache ,it is every year and that fact never changes. A lot of locals plan vacations just not to be here. Some even turn a profit renting out their homes while they are gone. But on a high note, when the golf goofs go home and the money is counted things return to a tranquil pace quickly.

I-20 east going to Columbia is always backed up past the state line in SC. That should tell you something. I-20 east going to Atlanta is even worse. Because you have alot of people coming from Atlanta to Augusta. By using Hartsfield then driving to Augusta. With the interstate construction in GA and SC I expect the traffic to be worse this year.

You can easily avoid using I20... we haven't used it since the construction started.. we use Skinner mill Rd as an alternate.. to Wheeler Rd.. then can pick up I20 near Belair Rd... much better there. The locals know all the back rds.. look on google maps and you can find all of the alternates to I20 and Washington Rd.

Okay since you use wheeler rd. How many cranes are at wheeler road. You said you live in West Augusta? Why did you duck my post on the biggest construction projects in GA thread. Can you atleast tell me what are they building if they are on skinner mill road. Since you use both roads. Im still trying to figure out how you didn't know Carmax was built. But yet you say you use wheeler road.

Use the interstate, even with the construction going on it's better than secondary roads

A LOT of the interstate construction is planned to be open by the Masters. Keep yours eyes open for the changes coming in the next week or so. It will not be completed by the Masters by no means, but traffic will be wide open

I definitely wouldn't use wheeler road. That road traffic is a mess.

never had a problem on wheeler Rd... but then again its useful for me..makes a great bypass for I20 to avoid the construction. I made the mistake of getting on I20 between Washington RD and I520 during construction... they had one lane open each way, and traffic just crawled... so I try to avoid that strecth of I20 as much as I can, until the construction is completely finished. Unlike Atlanta, there are plenty of ways to get around town without using the freeways. If you are coming from a bigger city like Atlanta, then traffic in Augusta, even during Masters week, is not going to be a big deal. For the locals, its a real headache because we are just not used to that kind of congestion.. but its only a week.. and it does bring a lot of money to the area.

What the traffic on wheeler road is very bad. The 520 exit to wheeler road is the worst exit in the metro. They have dumped the exit onto marks church rd. Because of all the construction. There is construction on wheeler road because of I-520. Lol so why would you use it to bypass the I-20 construction.

You should use Walton Way extension or Scott nixon memorial.
