Questions About Moving to North August, SC
I am considering moving to North Augusta. However, I have never been to the area and don't know anyone there. After researching a lot a places, I think that it would be a pleasant change of pace from Long Beach, CA. However, all my research has been online, so it's credibility could be questioned.
I'm hoping to find a decent studio or one bedroom for $450. Is that reasonable for the area? And are there any areas that I should steer clear of? I know it's a small town, but most places still have a shadier area. I am alone and will not have a vehicle right away, so I need to feel secure wandering around alone in my own neighborhood.
Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks!

Anything that you have to be close to? what was the reason you decided on N. Augusta over Augusta, GA? a studio for 450/mo is not out of the question, but more specifics would help you with your search

I do not have to be near anything. I just prefer a smaller town outside of the city with a sense of community. Clean. Low crime rate.

North Augusta is pretty safe.. but it will be very difficult living in this area without a car. The Augusta area is pretty much an automobile centered place (I'm sure you are familiar with that in So Cal). Augusta does have a bus system.. but it is VERY limited and I would hate to have to rely on it for survival. North Augusta does not have a public transit system, but depending on where you live in NA, you could easily walk into downtown Augusta. You are probably want to choose an area thats close in, less suburban where you can walk to a grocery store and restaurants. Downtown NA has been undergoing a complete makeover.. I would look in that area.

ISIS - Living without a car would be very difficult in Augusta area (either GA or SC).
Problem is that you could live in downtown Augusta and walk to restraurants and some very limited shopping. Nearest grocery is about a long mile walk through some transitional areas.
In North Augusta, a couple of restraurants, but a long climb to shopping (grocery stores, general strip mall stuff and a Wal-mart/Lowes).
Good luck

Everybody loves North Augusta. Now if you are single, young, or enjoys urban living that go's with downtown Augusta.

Living in either Augusta or N. Augusta would be doable without a vehicle. Not especially easy, but I'm sure it never is.
There is also plenty of parking in case you do want a car later down the road.
