Default Historic Augusta neighborhoods growth & development

Since Augusta is building new homes and other residential areas in the urban core. The city of Augusta will be spending $750,000 a year. To invest in the inner city. I figured a thread on the developments in the inner city historic areas and all of the historic neighborhoods would be needed.

Talk about any developments in Harrisburg, Old Towne, Hill, Forest Hills, Summerville, Laney Walker, James brown boulevard/9th st, and Bethlehem.

Hope that money can stretch... I renovate homes in Old Towne and Harrisburg, and some homes need a substantial amount of money to be restored.

The sad fact of the matter is... Harrisburg is too densely populated for real growth. Unfortunately that money might be best spent tearing down some Harrisburg, and a few Old Towne homes. That is the plan that would stretch the money the farthest.

OR they could always give it to me to renovate more homes . Good Thread!

That's good to hear AugustaREgroup. Keep up the good work at what you're doing in gentrification.

Harrisburg investment
Since December, the Salvation Army has purchased at least 20 parcels in the vicinity of Chafee Park and spent more than $1.4 million on real estate.

Although many of the old homes have been razed to make way for the 85,000 square foot aquatics center and social services complex, a partnership with Historic Augusta Inc., will enable more than a dozen structures to be preserved, he said.

The design for Augusta's Kroc Center includes a glassed-in main building, with a view of the canal, that would include park and green space areas, classrooms, worship and conference space, offices for dozens of arts and social service groups, a 400-seat performing arts center and chapel, and many other amenities.

Default Couple falls in love with Harrisburg

Mr. Williams first had thought of the property as a home for his son, or perhaps something to turn around and sell , but as the project continued, he and his wife, Gloria, fell in love with the house and with area.

They moved from their west Augusta neighborhood in September.

"Harrisburg is at a point in its evolution where more folks like us who recognize the tremendous value to be had are moving in,' he said. "We like the urban flavor of downtown.

If anyone is interested. Mr. Williams purchased his home on xxxx Broad in April 2006 for $15,900. It will not be long before all the great deals in Harrisburg are taken by homeowners like Mr. Williams or investors.
